Nissan has always been passionate about innovating and treading into waters no one has ever gone into before. It is this passion and commitment to excellence that made them one of the leaders of the global automotive industry. Year after year after year, they have managed to deliver on their promise of presenting to the world “Innovation that Excites.” And as Nissan Philippines welcomed their second year of introducing Nissan’s exciting innovations to the Philippine market, they went all-out in making 2015 an amazing year of rediscovery—rediscovering innovation, rediscovering excitement, rediscovering convenience, rediscovering comfort, rediscovering NISSAN.
Nissan welcomed the year with a special promo. They offered the lowest down payments of the year from January 5 to February 28 and had a daily raffle draw, with a trip for two to Boracay as the prize! Customers eligible for the promo were those who purchased a Nissan Almera, Navara, Sylphy, or Urvan through the Nissan Philippines, Inc. (NPI) dealer network within the promo period.
The love month saw people falling in love with the all-new Nissan NP300 Navara, which now boasts of a tougher body and much smarter features. It promises a comfortable ride whether you’re on smooth city roads or rough mountain trails.
This month is when NPI became the newest participant in the GT Academy, a virtual-to-pro racing competition. The Philippines competed with other Asian countries for the title of GT Academy Champion. It opened the opportunity for Filipinos with expert skills in virtual racing to also prove their worth on a real racetrack.
It was on this month that NPI accomplished the rare feat of welcoming six dealerships into their network—all within one day! This certainly shows the company’s commitment to extending their reach all over the country to serve their customers better.
Nissan made up for a relatively quiet month of May by introducing the all-new NV350 Urvan in June. The latest iteration of their well-loved van is a formidable contender in the commercial van class, with its improved features and design. To showcase what the new Urvan has to offer, NPI invited a group of lifestyle and motoring media practitioners to a Tagaytay-Batangas trip soon after the vehicle’s launch.
In Cagayan de Oro, Nissan held a two-day Ride & Drive featuring the Nissan Navara NP300.
The opening of the second half of the year ushered in the National Finals of the GT Academy Philippine edition, where the top 20 contenders battled it out for the top six slots. The top six contenders then moved on to the next stage of the competition, which is the Asia Race Camp. Marlon Stockinger, 2015 Renault World Series and Lotus F1 Junior Team race car driver, served as the contenders mentor and the competition’s guest judge.
On its first foray into the GT Academy, the Philippines took pride in having Joward Policarpio winning the GT Academy Asia Race Camp, which was held at the Silverstone Circuit in the United Kingdom. Indonesia’s Andika Rama and India’s Akshay Gupta came in second and third, respectively.
This month also saw Nissan donating two of its best-selling vehicles—the NP300 Navara and the NV350 Urvan—to the non-profit organization, Habitat for Humanity Philippines. Habitat says they will be using the vehicles for disaster response activities and for their ReStore Program, which is a donation center that sells donated furniture, home accessories, appliances, and building materials at a fraction of their respective retail prices.
The start of the “ber” months saw Nissan launching another promo: The Nissan Sylphy Transformation Promo. Participants sent in an old photo and a current photo of themselves. A composite of the photos will then be displayed, and the entry with the most number of votes wins a brand-new Sylphy! The promo is meant to showcase how much one can change as the years go by, in the same way the old favorite Nissan Sentra was transformed into the new Nissan Sylphy.
The year may be drawing to a close, but Nissan isn’t done innovating just yet! Recognizing the need to make car parts easily accessible to the public, it has launched Nissan Parts Online (www.nissanparts.ph). This platform allows you to view and purchase the various parts you may need for your favorite Nissan car, right from the comfort of your own home. Aside from parts, the site also sells various car accessories and merchandise.
This month, Nissan also received a great honor: The Truck of the Year Award – Philippines by the Car Awards Group, Inc. (CAGI)! Indeed, Nissan Philippines President, Antonio Zara, wasn’t off the mark when he dished out the challenge early this year: “Let the truck wars begin!” Nissan is proud to have won the competition!
It has indeed been an exciting year for Nissan Philippines and their loyal patrons. And with their brand of commitment and innovation, it’s safe to say we can expect even more exciting years to come.
